Social darkness

Some of my Instagram friends are running a a series of Thinking Thursday by giving all creatives a prompt to work with. The submissions are great every week. I try to participate as often as I can.

Last Thursday's prompt was Freedom. Somewhere amongst people celebrating, inspiring or hoping for freedom, somewhere amongst reading forbidden books and voicing their found ways, I wrote this.

Be brave, don't lose your own voices.

Lately I feel like this poem I wrote a year ago

Easter with e-books

Hey there!

Easter time is upon us! I know the dates are different in different countries, but here, in Czech Republic, it is going to be a long weekend this weekend. I'm even hoping for some sun, would you believe.

In the same hopes, I have scheduled a promotional price on both of my e-books. The discount is available exclusively on my Lulu shop.

Direct links - The Book I Owed to Myself and Where Feelings Come to Reason.

I hope that wherever you are, you might be brave and take this chance to read some modern, contemporary and yet pragmatic poetry!

The offer is there from the 6th until the 11th of April.

If you want to find out more about the books themselves, look for the links on the side, each have their own websites with additional information about the respective book.

Be brave and stay kind,

K

Much appreciated warming

Those days when readers send me pictures or review my book are amazing days! It is so amazing to see copies of my book going around, being places, enjoying sunny days being read in cosy settings. Travelling to Slovenia with drag kings on tour. All these pictures just make me all warm and fuzzy.

I just love sharing pictures like these. This particular one is from my amazing photographer Adriana. Reading her copy of my book with photo taken by her on the back cover. All covered in sunny rays inside her lovely home.

If you, dear reader, also have a photo or a review of my book. Especially if you would like it shared on my blog or socials, send it over, there's a contact me form on the right side! All these welcomed :) don't forget to add your username on Instagram, so I can tag you!

As promised already

In all this excitement and recording of things, I've also recorded this little poem. Give it a listen and I hope you'll like it.

An announcement announces

After some thinking, forgetting, thinking, letting go, scribbling in my notebook, looking through older scribblings, forgetting, then coming back to it, I've settled on the title for my second book!

I've gone festive!

With the usual reminder that books make the best gifts! Mine and others! :))

And to update people that my recent silence means that I have been so busy with all the things! Creating, recording, writing, lots of new writing has happened. I think there are only about 4 blank pages left in my urchin notebook.

There are also new notebooks on sale in my Lulu shop. In case you know someone who needs a new notebook for reasons.

Be kind to yourselves during this festive season!

More news to come soon-ish :)

thanks

Book spotlight - Dear Heartbreakers

Today I'm going to recommend something to you all. And it is the book Dear Heartbreakers by Vivien Kis. This is a soulful book that keeps getting more and more rational as you read on. The author aims and hits us with lines from pop culture that has impacted the minds and hearts, and more importantly – beliefs about what love should look like. How it should be treated. The narrative that starts with the nagging feeling of something being slightly ‘off’, but then guiding us through to what is the person’s truth underneath everything we’ve been taught to believe and everything we thought we’re supposed to feel and do.

poetry is where I come to talk to myself

poetry is where I come to talk to myself,
to explain me to myself.

By now I have actually written enough things for a second book suprisingly. But those poems need to sit in the notebook and mature themselves. Like a good cheese or wine. As you might not know, my random reader, I have about zero patience levels, so this waiting feels quite boring. It also does not help the poems to mature, if they are still in my head and not just in the notebook. To entertain and distract myself, I've decided to pick up a new and clean notebook, so I can put that one somewhere on a shelf in my bedroom to do its thing. My dear friend in Notts has sent me a lovely black notebook with a sea urchin on the cover! It feels like a new beginning and a new story. I'm excited to see where this one will lead me.

Be brave, folks, I am there with you, just pick up my first published book and see for yourself.

Not a poem, I lied

Don't look, there be post.

I've been writing some new things lately

Let me show you a little excerpt!

***

have I become brave or stupid
or fully accepting that people
actually don't care enough about
others to proper judge them

...

This is the first verse of something I haven't quite finished yet. But it has been almost therapeutic to write new things whilst I was working on my older stuff and all the other things I needed to do for the first book - The Book I Owed to Myself. It also has been a lot of fun seeing how my writing is impacted by a much better collaboration of the different parts of my mind, and the recognitions of inner conflicts and impulses.

I wish you all a good Sunday.

There's even more

Hi, I'm Kae

and I am a pragmatic poet. I write stories in lines for my fellow angry at heart to feel less alone. I put my inner thoughts into words for the emotion seekers, and the feminist points for my queer equals to sense it themselves. I structure in verses the rational sides of the chaos of life for those who experience the same. Words for my own self, for you, for anyone who needs a glimpse of a mind and soul to relate to. Be brave.
